The Sutherland potential [1] is given by

where is the intermolecular pair potential, is the distance between site 1 and site 2, is the hard diameter, is the energy well depth (Failed to parse (SVG (MathML can be enabled via browser plugin): Invalid response ("Math extension cannot connect to Restbase.") from server "https://wikimedia.org/api/rest_v1/":): {\displaystyle \epsilon > 0 } ), and Failed to parse (SVG (MathML can be enabled via browser plugin): Invalid response ("Math extension cannot connect to Restbase.") from server "https://wikimedia.org/api/rest_v1/":): {\displaystyle \gamma } is a parameter that controls the interaction range.
