The exp-6 potential (or Exp-Six potential) is a modified form of the Buckingham potential and is given by (Eq. 1 in [1]):

Φ12(r)=ϵ1−6/α[(6α)exp[α(1−rrmin)]−(rminr)6]

where

  • r:=|r1−r2|
  • Φ12(r) is the intermolecular pair potential between two particles or sites
  • rmin is the value of r at which Φ12(r) is a minimum.
  • ϵ is the well depth (energy)
  • α is the "steepness" of the repulsive energy

Melting point[edit]

An approximate method to locate the melting point is given in [2]. See also [3].
