The Kihara potential, developed by Taro Kihara [1] in 1951, is a non-spherical generalisation of the Lennard-Jones model. It is given by

Φ12(ρ)=Φ0[mn−m(ρ0ρ)n−nn−m(ρ0ρ)m],n>m>3.

where Φ12 is the intermolecular pair potential, and ρ is the shortest distance between molecule cores.
