The Hemmer and Stell model intermolecular pair potential, Φ12(r), is given by (Ref. 1 Eq. 2, Ref. 2 Eq. 1-3):

Φ12(r)=Φ12(r)repulsive+Φ12(r)attractive

where a short range piece-wise potential

Φ12(r)repulsive={∞r<dV0(1−(r−d)λd)d<r<d(1+λ)0d(1+λ)<r

where r:=|r1−r2|, d is the hard core radius, along with a long-range attractive potential;

Φ12(r)attractive=−aγexp(−γr)

where a is a positive constant.
